International Women’s Day Celebration

Alliance Donne proudly celebrated the 115th anniversary of International Women’s Day with a vibrant and intergenerational gathering at the Centro Leonardo da Vinci in Montréal. Centered on the theme of honouring “le donne che ci hanno ispirate e guidate”, the event paid tribute to the women who have shaped our lives, our communities, and our shared heritage.

Hosted by Giulia Verticchio, the afternoon featured inspiring conversations with special guests Valeria Galluccio, internationally recognized director, choreographer, and dancer whose work spans contemporary dance and multimedia creation, and Laura Casella, news anchor on Global News Morning and radio host on The Beat 92.5.

Valeria shared her artistic journey, from performing at the Venice Biennale to joining Montréal’s renowned Compagnie Marie Chouinard, and her evolution into creating award-winning multimedia works such as LUCE and ElleX / ElleY, the latter receiving Best Canadian Short Film of the Year (2025) at the International Festival of Films on Art. Laura brought a powerful perspective shaped by over a decade in journalism, covering major local and international stories while proudly representing her Italian heritage and community voice.

Together, their stories offered meaningful reflections on identity, resilience, creativity, and the evolving role of women in today’s world.

The event brought together women of all generations, mothers, daughters, grandmothers, aunts, nieces, and friends, in a warm and welcoming space filled with meaningful dialogue, connection, and celebration. From heartfelt exchanges to moments of joy and tradition, including a shared spuntino, the afternoon captured the spirit of community and empowerment at the heart of Alliance Donne.
This memorable celebration honoured the past, celebrated the present, and inspired future generations of women.
